Lake Vermilion Guides League Experienced, Professional Lake Vermilion Guides Pictures 2011 February 12 "Take a Kid Ice Fishing" Day The event was sponsored and hosted by the Lake Vermilion Guides League. A very big thank you goes to Zup's in Tower and Cook for supplying all the hotdogs, hamburger and buns. 13 area youths including two young ladies ranging in ages from 8 to 15 were treated to a mid day ice fishing with area guides. They were met at McKinley park and driven out to any one of a number of heated ice houses donated by league members and volunteers. The kids had a great time and almost all caught a fish or two. Judging by the number of hotdogs and hamburgers consumed they worked up quite an appitite. Guide league members included Tim "Buck" Lescarbeau, Phil "Chef" Bakken, Dave "The Legend" Schaffer, Cliff Wagenbach and Doug Knoer. Ice houses were provided by Cliff, Dave, Casey Sunsdahl, Denny Van de Linde, and Pete Ferry. Volunteers who helped with the event included Pete Ferry and Carol Wright. The smiles on their faces was all that was needed to make the event a success said Guide League Chairman, Phil Bakken.
